In a presser last night, HEOC said that 63 individuals are hospitalized for the virus currently.

Responding to a question by a journalist, HEOC spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said that as the virus numbers increased, the number of elderly patients and patients with chronic illnesses were also a=on the rise.

“They are being admitted even though their condition is not serious. So, hospitalization figures are higher than before.” Said Dr. Nazla.

Currently, there are 544 people in isolation facilities, including 464 locals and 108 foreigners.

The Maldives has so far confirmed 3,302 cases of the virus. They include 1,454 locals. 15 individuals have also passed away due to the virus while 2,534 individuals have also made full recoveries from the virus.
