The COVID-19 management facilities opened in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City and H. A. Ihavandhoo have been officially opened.
The facilities were inaugurated in a virtual ceremony attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Abdulla Shahid, Health Minister Abdulla Ameen, Director-General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru, hospital managers, and parliamentarians who represent the constituencies.
The COVID-19 management facility in Hithadhoo, Addu City has a 10-bed ICU and a 30-bed isolation ward, while the facilities in Fuvahmulah and Ihavandhoo each have three beds.
The inauguration of the new COVID-19 management facilities follow the inauguration of similar facilities in L. Gan and G. A. Vilingili last Wednesday, and the inauguration of facilities in B. Eydhafushi and Sh. Funadhoo the week before.
The facilities were developed as part of the government’s efforts to decentralize coronavirus healthcare, and offer greater access to coronavirus healthcare in the atolls.
