COVID-19: With 18 new positive cases, Maldives reaches 2,400

Health Protection Agency (HPA), has announced 18 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 2,400.

According to HPA, the new cases are;

  • 07 locals
  • 11 Bangladeshi nationals

The confirmed cases were identified from 18:00 yesterday to 18:00 today.

Meanwhile, 15 more COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24-hours, increasing total recoveries to 1,969 people.

The new developments mean that the Maldives now has 416 active cases.

There are 275 people in isolation facilities, and 115 people in quarantine facilities.

52,962 samples, including repeated samples, have been taken by health authorities to conduct COVID-19 testing.

Confirmed cases over the last week:

  • June 26, 2020: 06 positive cases
  • June 27, 2020: 22 positive cases
  • June 28, 2020: 19 positive cases
  • June 29, 2020: 13 positive cases
  • June 30, 2020: 24 positive cases
  • July 01, 2020: 21 positive cases
  • July 02, 2020: 18 positive case

Capital Male' City saw the introduction of massive easements to the lockdown order last night. They include the reopening of schools, businesses, cafes, and hotels. Civilians are also allowed outdoors from 5:00 to 23:00.
