Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced guidelines to be followed in salons across the nation when the country reopens after the COVID-19 pandemic.

HPA advised using disposable items in such establishments to ensure the safety and prevention of the virus in such establishments.

Sponges, make up items, and other equipment used at these establishments are to be disposed of after use, according to the guideline by HPA.

If items cannot be used as disposable items, HPA instructed to use the items per customer.  Establishments are also to disinfect and use soap or detergents after use.

Drinks are also to be served in disposable cups.

Customers are to maintain a distance of three-feet and staff are also to do the same when serving. The number of people that can enter the establishment at the same time and maintain this distance must be identifiable at the establishment.

Other important measures:

  • Symptomatic individuals are not to be served.
  • Towels, aprons, and other attire must be cleaned before the next customer is served.
  • Gloves, goggles, or face shields are to be used when providing service. Staff are also advised to wash their hands with soap after serving customers.
  • Sanitizers or handwashing arrangements must be made available at the establishments.
