Sri Lankan Airlines will recommence operations to the Maldives when the country reopens borders next month.

Mohamed Firaag, Managing Director of Ace Travels, Sri Lankan's General Sales Agent in the Maldives said to Sun that "SriLankan will operate flights on three days (Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday) per week. For now, the flights will only operate between Male'-Colombo."

He added that flight frequency will increase when other nations also open up their borders.

Emirates has also been permitted to operate between Colombo-London today and will begin transit operations to the Maldives when it reopens.

Currently, two flights will be operated in the route by Emirates. Ace Travels is the sales agent of Cathay Pacific in addition to Sri Lankan in the Maldives.
