37 resorts in Maldives set to reopen in July

At least 37 resorts in the Maldives are set to reopen in July after the government announced that the borders of the country will indeed reopen on July 15. 

Tourism Minister Ali Waheed, on Wednesday, assured that the majority of the resorts in the nation was set to reopen within the year, after COPVID-19, put a temporary stop to their operations in late March. 

While at least 37 resorts are set to reopen in July, more will reopen in August and October.  

A list compiled by the travel news website Travel Trade Maldives read that 36 major resorts will reopen on July 15 with one more set to reopen on July 22.

Tourists will be provided with 30 days of on-arrival visa as before, when the country reopens on July 15.

While thermal scanning is arranged at points of entry, tourists without any symptoms of COVID-19 will not be tested for the virus. Medical certificates will not be required to enter the country. However, symptomatic individuals will still be tested for the virus, and random sampling of tourists will be conducted at the airport as a safety measure.
