The senior magistrate of the H. Dh. Atoll judicial district Mohamed Mausoom has been suspended by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
A statement issued by the JSC today read that it had informed the magistrate to refrain from attending work for a period of 60 days based on the current findings of an investigation regarding the magistrate.
The Commission is investigating claims that spread on social media that the senior magistrate accepted bribes in a bold manner, as well as allegations of sexual harassment among others.
JSC is conducting several investigations in judges and magistrates and has previously suspended many. Some Supreme Court justices were also impeached by the JSC after submitting their cases to the Parliament.
