Govt. announces successful repatriation of 840 Bangladeshi nationals

The government of Maldives has announced that it has repatriated some 840 Bangladeshi nationals living in the Maldives without proper documents.

Work to repatriate the Bangladeshi nationals have been underway since the beginning of the week. However, due to Cyclone Amphan which directly impacted Bangladesh, the operations had to be temporarily halted.

 A Maldivian flight supposed to carry 352 Bangladeshi nationals was delayed and later canceled due to the cyclone. The flight had finally departed today. 

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid had thanked the Bangladeshi High Commission in the Maldives for its collaborative effort in the operation. 

Foreign Ministry stated starting from April 21, 840 Bangladeshi nationals have been repatriated so far.
