The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that eight more individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives.
On its official Twitter account, HPA stated that the eight new cases consisted of five Maldivians and three Bangladeshi nationals. One of the individuals Case 522 was identified as a 36-year old female connected with the MND cluster of cases. The clusters of the remaining individuals were not specified on the Health ministry's dashboard.
The overwhelming majority of virus cases in the Maldives are being identified in the capital Male' City. However, cases have also been confirmed in Thulusdhoo, Narudhoo, Milandhoo. Uligan, Manadhoo, and Thakandhoo as well.
The Maldives has now confirmed 527 positive cases and one death from COVID-19. 18 people have also made recoveries after being infected with the virus. There are 1311 people in quarantine facilities with a further 447 in isolation facilities.
