'Anonymous' hack on HPA under investigation

Minister for Science and Technology has announced that an investigation will be conducted into the hacking of the official website of the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

The website of the health agency was hacked and replaced with a video today. The website was taken offline after some time and soon returned back to normal.

The highly-edited video on the website showed a figure wearing a mask commonly referred to as a Guy Fawkes mask speaking to the camera and threatening more attacks on the government and leak information as revenge for the actions of the government.

Before the video ended, the individual is heard saying that the hack was the work of the notorious anonymous hacking group. The authenticity of the video is not yet certain.

Minister Maleeh condemned the cowardly act of targeting the HPA’s website as a backward move.

“To hack the website of HPA during the delicate time is an unsophisticated and cowardly act, (which i) harshly condemn. We will investigate this matter with the investigative bodies. It has already begun and is underway.” Said the Minister.

The group known as Anonymous is an international hacktivist group. It is one of the most well-known such groups notorious for its various cyber attacks against governments, institutions and government agencies, corporations.
