Monitoring mechanisms on the island of H.A Uligan has been lifted by the authorities.
The island was placed under mechanisms after a positive case of COVID-19 was identified from the island on April 19. The patient has now been moved to an isolation facility.
The patient had traveled to the island by boat which made stops at seven different islands in the north of Maldives, including Uligan.
The island was the second inhabited island of the country to confirm a case of the virus after Male' City..
The island was placed under monitoring mechanisms since the case was confirmed and the mechanisms are now being removed after the contact tracing work and sample collection of contacts were completed by the authorities.
Other than Uligan, mechanisms on K. Kudavilingili has also been lifted.
252 other locations in the country such as shops and buildings are also being monitored by the authorities. The country confirmed 568 cases of COVID-19 last night. Contact tracing efforts of positive cases has led to the identification of more than 3500 individuals.
