President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the first victim of COVID-19 to pass away in the Maldives.
The first patient to pass away from the virus in the country was named Aminath Adam who was 83 years. Her test results were returned as positive after she passed away due to the virus in the evening of yesterday.
In a tweet on his official account, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih extended his sincere condolences to the family and included his prayers that the deceased be granted paradise by Allah (SWT). The President also encouraged her family to remain patient and vigilant during this difficult time.
Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has also extended his condolences to the family, in addition to Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and Health Minister Abdulla Ameen.
Aminath was buried last night by a special team of MNDF who had received training and guidance on such processions.
