Authorities have begun work to move COVID-19 positive virus patients in the Farukolhufushi isolation facility to another isolation facility based in Kuda Bandos.
Ina press conference underway tonight, National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez stated that the people who tested positive for the virus from the Male’ City area would be moved to the facility in Kuda Bandos.
They were initially placed at the isolation facility in Farukolhufushi. He also added that the positive cases identified from Sh. Narudhoo would be moved to another isolation facility based in the island of H. A. Dhonakulhi.
Mabrouq said that the transfer of patients from Farukolhufushi was due to issues such as water leaks and electricity cuts at the facility.
The facility was constructed by the authorities at a cost of MVR 7.3 million. Any further cases of the virus would be moved to the facility in Bandos while the Farukolhufushi facility is to undergo renovations. The facility will be used by the government for COVID-19 purposes, said Mabrouq.
Tourism Minister Ali Waheed had earlier tweeted that isolation facilities established in the north and south of the country would be utilized tonight.
