Virus positive cases identified in COVID village

National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has announced that positive cases of COVID-19 have been identified from the COVID village under construction by Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF). The positive cases has led to a suspension in the work of the village.

Speaking in a press conference tonight, NEOC spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez stated that the positive cases from the COVID village included MNDF officers.

The village is being constructed to treat the most severe cases of the virus.

“The two locations are quarantined since some electrical and mechanical engineers of the MNDF workshop have also tested positive for the virus. Work is being conducted to recommence the operations as soon as those that need to be isolated and those contacts that need to quarantined are done so.” Said Mabrouq.

Five MNDF officers working in the COVID village have tested positive for the virus. In addition to the officers, two foreign workers of the village have also tested positive for the virus.
