The Bank of Maldives (BML) will be open on Monday and Wednesday (27 and 29 April 2020), but will only provide essential services.
The bank made the announcement after the central bank MMA decided to do so, despite the whole country being in a state of lockdown and the capital being under heavy measures on restricting the movement of people due to the spread of COVID-19, which has gripped the whole nation.
Essential services provided by the bank on these two days include payroll services, money transfer abroad, local bank transfers, Cheque processing procedures.
The Bank requests those applying for International transfers (TT) to send all relevant documents regarding the application via email to [email protected].
The Bank will process the TT/Letter of Credit received before 11:00.
Payroll services can also be applied online, and details of the procedure will be available on the website. BML will be able to process applications received before 11:00, on the same day.
