Dr. Afzal: Recovered virus cases may exist in Male' City

National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) Dr. Ibrahim Afzal has said that the country may possibly have individuals who had been infected with the virus and made full recoveries.

Dr. Afzal was speaking in a news conference tonight when he said that the authorities were working to identify such cases.

The doctor said that possibilities for such a situation existed and the contact tracing of the authorities is conducted keeping this in mind. The authorities were also considering to conduct Anti-Body tests on samples taken.

“We are considering to conduct Serology tests and Anti-Body tests in some instances. However, the decision would be on a case by case basis. There is a possibility that this may have occurred.” said Dr. Afzal.

Male’ City has confirmed 15 cases of the virus within four days. The number of contacts with these positive cases stands at a staggering 300. The doctor stated that the number of positive cases is expected to rise within the next days and to reach a peak point within 14 days.
