IGMH Medical Officer, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal has advised cashiers in shops to wear gloves at work.

Dr. Afzal was speaking at a news conference last night when he cautioned businesses to ensure that the social distancing was implemented in the work environment as well, during the situation with the Covid-19.

“Those working the counters of shops should wear gloves when dealing with customers and money, and should refrain from attending such locations if sick…We have been speaking about installing a partition of some kind between the cashier and the customer.” said Dr. Afzal.

The doctor noted that the country may be in danger once the current precautionary measures are lifted if these measures are not fully implemented or increased. He added that the country was always prone to seasonal diseases such as Dengue and Diarrhea.

“This is a good time to clean the household and get rid of locations where mosquitoes could nest. To clean the house once a week for the purpose. Also, special care has to be taken when preparing food. Since this is a time where many are stuck at home, diseases such as diarrhea and other viral ones can easily spread.” said Dr. Afzal.
