British PM Boris Johnson tests positive for Covid-19

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for Covid-19.

Mr. Johnson had stated that he developed mild symptoms over the past 24 hours, and will now be in self-isolation. The Prime Minister also added that he will continue to lead the government's response against the virus via video-conference.

In a video on his Twitter account, Mr Johnson said: "I'm working from home and self-isolating and that's entirely the right thing to do.

"But, be in no doubt that I can continue thanks to the wizardry of modern technology to communicate with all my top team to lead the national fightback against coronavirus.

"I want to thank everybody involved and, of course, our amazing NHS staff."

There are more than 11,600 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK, and 578 people have died.

In other developments, a member of Russian President Vladimir Putin's administration staff has also tested positive for the Covid-19. The news was confirmed by the Kremlin 

Russia has reported its biggest one-day jump in cases - with 196 new diagnoses, taking the total number up to 1,036. Three people have died in the country so far.
