The import of construction supplies to the Maldives has been eased up by the government.

The moves were announced in light of the situation with the Covid-19 pandemic in the world right now and due to the inconveniences faced in importing construction equipment due to lockdowns and travel restrictions announced in several countries.

The quality level documents of these supplies imported into the country will no longer be required by the Planning Ministry as part of the measure. The documents have to be presented to the government before May 24, since the measures will be in place from March 20 to May 24.

A temporary permit will be issued by the Ministry once the documents other than technical ones are submitted to the Ministry.
