South Galolhu MP Mickail Naseem has called to summon the heads of the communications authorities in the country for failing to provide easier ways for people to access the internet at a time of public health emergency when students and employees are advised to stay home.
In a letter sent by the MP to the Speaker, MP Mickail stated that many people were forced to work from home as well as students who were forced to study at home, instead of attending schools.
The MP noted that the internet was a necessity these days, and lamented the fact that authorities in charge were not doing more to bring conveniences to the public.
“So to enquire why the communications authorities of Maldives is not conducting its responsibilities to the best, under the parliament’s regulation 159, I request the heads of these authorities to be summoned to the Committee on National Development and Heritage.” Read the letter by MP Mickail to the Speaker.
