Covid-19 patient moved to Dharumavantha Hospital

One of the patients who tested positive for Covid-19 has been moved to the specialized critical care unit of Dharumavantha Hospital.

In a news conference tonight, government spokesperson Mabrook Azeez informed the media that an elderly patient of 70-years who tested positive for the disease in Sandies Bathala Resort was moved to the specialized care unit due to the person’s age.

The person was moved after the doctor’s advice to keep the patient under supervision due to the age. Mabrook stated that the person was not in a serious condition but merely due to the age.

Two people were tested positive from the resort and Mabrook stated that two were a couple who had visited the resort as tourists. Both were placed in quarantine after test results showed them positive for the disease and both were moved to Dharumavantha Hospital in the capital.

The patients are both clinically stable according to the authorities.

Mabrook also stated that they were moved to the DH11 facility of the hospital designated for closely monitoring patients with respiratory problems.

Six cases of the disease have identified in the Maldives so far.

One & Only Reethi Rah in lockdown

A suspected case of Covid-19 in One & Only Reethi Rah Resort was also identified today.

The resort is currently placed in lockdown after the case. Government spokesperson Mabrook stated tonight that a child was suspected of the disease after exhibiting symptoms and testing was currently underway.

Local employee of Kuramathi Resort quarantined

A local employee of the Kuramathi Island Resort was placed in quarantine today after contacting a suspected case of the Covid-19 disease.

The person was moved to a quarantine facility as a precaution after contacting another person with the disease.

Six cases of the disease have so far been identified in the Maldives. They are four cases from Kuredu Island Resort and two from Sandies Bathala Resort. HPA has not announced any further positive cases.

Kuramathi Resort is currently under restrictive measures. 

All positive cases of the disease identified in the Maldives are foreigners.
