Information Commissioner Hussain Fiyaaz Moosa has stated that transparency is the most beneficial way for the state in every aspect.
The commissioner was speaking at a meeting held in the President’s Office yesterday to provide information to ministers regarding the right to information when he said so. The meeting was taken part by president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, vice president Faisal Naseem, cabinet members, president’s office ministers, and other senior officials as well.
The commissioner’s presentation at the working session focused on the right to information, policies, and regulations formed under the right, and the various challenges often faced in obtaining information.
Fiyaz stated that the statistics proved that the rate of adherence to the laws regarding obtaining information was improving in the country despite challenges. He said that this showed that there was still room for improvement.
“Transparency is the most beneficial way for this state. And establishing a culture of providing information without fear,” said Fiyaz who added that this would pave the way for an administration with integrity.
