Police, locals rescue whale stranded in Vilimale’ lagoon

The police and locals, on Friday, rescued a humpback whale left stranded in the lagoon of suburban Vilimale’.

 According to the police, it received report of the stranded whale at 4:20 am.

The whale was rescued and guided into the open water by officers from the Vilimale’ Police Station, with assistance from local residents.

Beached whales being found alive are a rare occurrence in Maldives.
