MDA: Profits of fishermen must be returned back to them

Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) has stated that fishermen can only truly be appreciated when a mechanism that returns the true profits from their work to benefit their families is established.

The statement by the MDA on the occasion of the National Fishermen’s Day read that an emphasis must be given weighing in the fishing industry than any other industry.

“To appreciate the true work of fishermen, we firmly believe in the establishment of a transparent mechanism that allows the true income of the fishermen to be returned to them and their beloved families.” read the statement by MDA.

It also read that the fishing industry was a high-risk industry that strengthens other industries and called to appreciate the work of the fishermen through words and actions.

MDA also praised the youths of today who are taking part in fishing and highlighted the importance of the industry that has seen advancements through modernized technology.
