A man that the Presidential Commission on Deaths and Disappearances (DDCOM) is searching for apparently left the country in 2015 and never returned, according to Immigration officials, only to turn up in the CCTV footage of a murder scene a year later in 2016.

The DDCOM last night announced that it was searching for an individual named Irufaan Rushdhy from M. Kuriruhge and asked anyone who had information on Irufaan to contact the commission.

A tweet by the Commission today stated that Irufaan could not be found by the authorities for nearly three years. The tweet also stated that he was last seen from the CCTV of a murder scene in June 2016 raising questions regarding the statements by Immigration that Irufaan left the country in 2015 and never returned.

“Immigration officials informed us that this man (Irufaan) left the country in 2015 and has since not returned. However, we have CCTV footage of the individual at a murder scene in June 2016, so we ask the public to assist us in finding this man.” read the tweet by the DDCOM.

“Sun” has found out that Irufaan was seen in the CCTV footage in the murder of 14-year-old Fathir Mohamed on June 3, 2019. Irufaan is a suspect in that murder and police had announced a search for him in relation to the case then. Fathir was murdered in a series of gang violence that hit the capital city in those days. Two other minors were also killed during the violence.
