MTCC begins work on Meedhoo Harbor expansion

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced work on expansion and upgrade of the harbor at Meedhoo in Addu Atoll.

According to MTCC, it received approval for the Environmental Impact Assessment study on the project on September 26, and commenced its work on Saturday, October 12.

MTCC says that 10 percent of the work is complete, as of this Wednesday.

MTCC was contracted the design and construction of Meedhoo Harbor on June 23.

The project consists of construction of a 2,480-meter harbor pavement, 57,996 cubic meters of dredging and reclamation, a 115-meter breakwater, and a 208-meter quay wall.

The project is valued at MVR 35.43 million, and is scheduled for completion within one year.
