President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has sent the names of former Assistant Commissioner of Customs Ismail Naashidh and former Director of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) Fathuhullah Jameel to the Parliament for the post of Commissioner General of Taxation.
The President sent the names of applicants who fulfilled the requirements for the posts of Commissioner General of Taxation and Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation in the preferred order to the Parliament today. The only two names sent for the post of Commissioner General of Taxation were Fathuhullah and Naashidhs names. Fathuhullah was the number one candidate for the post according to the President’s preferred selection order.
Six names were sent for the post of Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation by the President.

The Parliament sent the names of the candidates for the post of Commissioner General of Taxation to the Committee on Economic Affairs for review. The posts of Commissioner General of Taxation and Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation were vacated due to an amendment to the Taxation laws of the country. The post of Commissioner General of Taxation was previously held by Yazeedh Mohamed while the post of Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation was held by Hassan Zareer.
