VP: Locals in tourism will increase in the days ahead

Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated that the Maldives will soon see the number of locals in the tourism industry surge and that all economic activities in the country should also give precedence to Maldivians.

The Vice President made the statement while visiting the job fair targetted for local youths and women held at Farukolhufushi to celebrate World Tourism Day last night.

Speaking on the importance of job opportunities within the tourism sector, the Vice President stated that the job fair is a start and that more job opportunities will be created in the days ahead. He also said that government bodies are closely working with the private sector to create more opportunities for locals, especially for the youth within the tourism sector.

The job fair is held in Farukolhufushi to mark World Tourism Day 2019 and offers more than 500 job opportunities for locals within the tourism sector. More than 100 internship opportunities are also offered at the fair with transfers to the fair being carried our free of charge.
