4 judges under inquiry for possible ethical misconduct

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has made the decision to launch inquiries into four judges on five cases of ethical misconduct.

The commission made its decision at its meeting last Wednesday.

The commission has opened inquiries into one case of misconduct by Civil Court judge Hussain Faiz Rashad, one case of misconduct by Criminal Court judge Hassan Najeeb, one case of misconduct by Civil Court judge Hassan Faheem, and two cases of misconduct by chief magistrate of L. Dhanbidhoo Magistrate Court Ali Shareef.

All four judges, except for Hussain Faiz Rashad are already under inquiry by JSC in connection to other cases filed against them.

The meeting during which JSC made its decision was chaired by Abdulla Areef, president of JSC. He was joined by Masthoor Husni, vice president of JSC; Abdul Rauf Ibrahim; Hisaan Hussain; Dr. Ali Shameem; and Abdul Maaniu Hussain.
