Mohamed Zahir has been appointed the President of Employment Tribunal.
The top post at Employment Tribunal had been vacant since the resignation of former president and member, Ahmed Shifau.
President's Office confirms that Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed Mohamed Zahir, who had been serving the tribunal as one of its members, as its president on Wednesday.
Mohamed Zahir has a Bachelor’s of Laws from the University of London, and was appointed to the Employment Tribunal on January 8, 2019.
He is the younger brother of Gadhdhoo MP Ahmed Zahir, and son of former Gadhdhoo MP Zahir Adam.
Employment Tribunal was established under the Employment Act and is charged with protecting the rights and obligations of employers and employees, and making provisions for all other matters related to employment.
