Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi has backed the decision to publicize the report of murdered journalist Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla.

Minister Mariya stated that she does not see any issues with the decision after the parliament speaker Mohamed Nasheed received criticism for sharing the findings of the report with PG group leaders of the parliament.

She also stated that since the information in the report was found in the initial police investigation as former Home Minister Umar Naseer stated charges would have been brought forward in the matter before the report could have been published. She stated that this led her to reason that publicizing the report would not interfere with anyone being charged in the case.

"It is more important for things to be people to aware and notified of these things," said Minister Mariya

Most of the concerns with the report being publicized were centered around the information regarding the confidential witnesses in the case being revealed.
