Cancer treatment in the Maldives widened with 14 new medicines

Cancer treatments available in the country have been enhanced with the introduction of 14 new medicines.

The treatments were introduced at a conference named "Onco Spectre" aimed at further developing the medical industry held at Hulhule Island Hotel. The new medicines introduced at this conference will be available through Aasandha and will also be available from the 187 STO pharmacies in the country.

Introducing the medicines, the first Maldivian Onco Surgeon and IGMH's oncologist Dr. Mohamed Shifan said that the new medicines will allow Maldivians to get treatment in the Maldives without having to go abroad.

The two-day conference will be participated by 120 individuals from the medical sector and is aimed at training medical professionals and teaching nurses how to administer different drugs and medicines.

The conference is participated by cancer disease experts as well as doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians from IGMH, ADK Hospital, Treetop Hospital, and Hulhumale' hospital.
