Document examination lab opened in Gan airport

Maldives Immigration has opened a document examination lab at Gan airport to enhance the security of the country's points of entry.

The lab was inaugurated with a special ceremony by the mayor of Addu City Abdulla Sodhig. Immigration stated that the purpose of the lab was to analyze and ensure the usage of important documents related to national security such as passports through modern technology.

The new lab will also prevent people from entering the Maldives through Gan airport using forged passports says the Immigration. It is the second such lab to be established in the country with the first lab being established in Velana International airport in 2015.
