BML holds Wow Kidz Run, donates over MVR 100K in proceeds to ARC

The BML Wow Kidz Run 2019 – an annual event organized by Bank of Maldives and Total Fitness Group (TfG) was successfully concluded this Saturday with over 2,000 participants.

900 children (including an accompanying parent) of four age categories, as well as 300 children of 10-13 years ran in the event held in Hulhumale’ this Saturday morning.

The children who ran in the event raised MVR 105,250 from the fund raising platform established by BML for the event – which has been donated to local child rights NGO, Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC).

The donation was handed over ARC by Deputy CEO of BML, Mohamed Shareef and the participants of the run.

ARC reports it will use the donation to run its anti-bullying campaign “Beat Bullying”.

Deputy CEO Mohamed Shareef noted the funds will be utilized for a campaign of immense significance and benefit to the society.

He thanked all the children who assisted in the fund raising event, as well as the people who donated to the cause.

“It is my pleasure to note that this year’s event – which we held in collaboration with TfG – was so successful. We held this event in celebration of International Children’s Day to instill the importance of a healthy lifestyle and fitness among children,” said Shareef.

The races ranged from 2-kilometer runs to 3-kilometer runs to 4-kilometer runs depending on the age category.

All participants ended the run at Central Park, from where they were handed out medals.

BML Wow Kidz Run is immensely popular among children. This is the fourth consecutive year for the event to be held.
