IGMH: 25-year-old expatriate in critical condition following stabbing

The 25-year-old expatriate worker who was injured in the stabbing in Maafannu district of Male’ City on Friday is in critical condition, says Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

IGMH’s media official reported to ‘Sun’ this Saturday that the man is currently being treated at the hospital’s ward.

“Doctors say his condition is series. The stab wound to the chest is very deep,” said Mufeed.

The 25-year-old expatriate worker was assault by a group of fellow expatriate workers at a guesthouse frequented by expatriate workers for meals located at the crossroads of Dhunburi Mosque at approximately 10:27 pm last Friday.

An eyewitness reported the man, after he was stabbed, had run out of the guesthouse and collapsed near Salsa Royal Café.

He said the man had multiple stab wounds, including one to his throat, chest and back.

The eyewitness also reported that one of the attackers had attempted to flee the police by climbing to the third floor of a nearby residence from where he jumped, but was arrested by officers at the ground.

Maldives Police Service confirms it has taken a Bangladeshi citizen under custody in connection with the case. He was arrested on the run from near AMDC, says the agency.
