MWSC’s flag flies half-mast in commemoration of its first local employee

State-owned Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) is commemorating its first local employee, Mohamed Shafiu, who passed away this Sunday.

Shafiu had served at MWSC since he was employed at the company as its first local hire in 1995.

He was serving as Customer Service Manager of MWSC at the time of his death.

MWSC has issued a statement conveying sadness at his passing. He has been described as a “highly valued member of the company’s management team”, and the company has announced the decision to fly its flag half-mast in commemoration of his service to the company.
