Maldivian flight safely lands after one-hour delay due to mechanical malfunction

Maldivian flight Q2118 has safely landed in Addu City after spending over one hour in the air struggling with a mechanical malfunction.

PR  and Communications Manager of Island Aviation, Moosa Waseem reports the Dash-8 aircraft spent one-hour and 20 minutes in the air in a holding pattern due to a mechanical malfunction in the landing gear of the aircraft.

Gan International Airport was brought into immediate attention following report of the malfunction.

Moosa Waseem reports the crew carried out an alternative landing procedure, and landed safely at Gan International Airport with zero casualties.

There were 44 passengers onboard the flight – including a small child – when the incident took place.

Flight Captain Abdhul Baasith Ibrahim, Officer Rimah Rushdhi and In-Flight Supervisor Hasna Mohamed have been commended for their efforts in safely landing the aircraft.
