State earns an income of MVR 2.1B in January

Statistics released by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) show the State earned an income of MVR 2.1 billion during the month of January.

MIRA reports the MVR 2.1 billion earned during the month of January includes USD 67.8 million.

The MVR 2.1 billion is a 2.2 percent increase compared to the projected figure.

Though the income rose above expectations, the figure is 2.9 percent lower than the State income during January of 2018.

The biggest contributor to the State income in January was the income from Business Profit Tax. The State received MVR 880 million as BPT, which made up for 41 percent of the total income.

The second biggest contributor to income was the MVR 799 million the State receives as Goods and Service Tax (GST).
