Elderly man under State care passes away

An elderly man under State care at the special needs center in K. Guraidhoo has passed away.

Ali Ismail, 85, from Chaandhanee Villa, N. Magoodhoo passed away while receiving treatment at the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Male’ City last Tuesday night.

The death has been confirmed by Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services.

Ali Ismail, who had a preexisting lung condition, died of natural causes, reports the ministry.

“Sun” has been informed Ali Ismail was bedridden due to old age, had no family to take care of him, and was only recently taken under care of the State.

Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) reports the death is under investigation by the commission.
