Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) has filed a lawsuit against Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) over refusal to disclose information requested for one of its investigations.

HRCM, in a tweet, announced the first hearing in the lawsuit against IGMH - the largest State hospital in Maldives - was held this Thursday.

President of HRCM, Aminath Enas confirmed the lawsuit against IGMH, but declined to disclose any details, including the case for which the commission requested information.

HRCM has recently been hit by a wave of criticism, with many alleging the commission had been ineffective in dealing with the numerous human rights violations in Maldives over the past few years.
