Another man reported missing after dive to pick up sea cucumbers

MNDF Coastguard reports it has launched a search and rescue operation following the disappearance of a man who dove into the waters to the south of N. Manadhoo to pick up sea cucumbers this Wednesday.

MNDF’s information officer, Ibrahim Azim reports the missing man is one of two men on the boat, ‘Malak Melody’ who dove into the waters in search of sea cucumber.

The missing man has been identified as Abdulla Shamin, 24, from N. Milandhoo.

Shamin was reported missing to the Coastguard at 12:14 noon. He was wearing a black jersey, shorts of green, white and grey color, a grey mask and black and white fins when he went missing.

A team from the Coastguard has been dispatched to find and rescue the man.

Coastguard also launched a search and rescue operation to find another man who went missing under similar circumstances off the coast of R. Vandhoo this Wednesday. Abdulla Adam, 32, from Fehihiyaage, R. Dharavandhoo, was found in the uninhabited island, R. Dhikkurendhoo, and his being transported to Dhuvaafaru.
