President, First Lady tour Taj Mahal

Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed have taken a tour of India’s monument of love, the Taj Mahal.

Solih and Fazna travelled to Agra to tour the Taj Mahal this Tuesday morning.

Solih, who is currently on a three-day State visit to India, has met with Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi last Monday.

Modi, during the presentation of a joint-press statement with Solih on Monday afternoon, announced the decision to provide Maldives with USD 1.4 billion in economic assistance in the form of budgetary support, currency swap and concessional lines of credit.

Maldives and India also signed four documents on Monday; Agreement on the Facilitation of Visa Arrangements, Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Cooperation, Memorandum of Understanding for establishing Mutual Cooperation to Improve the Ecosystem for Agribusiness, and Joint Declaration of Intent on Cooperation in the field of Information, and Communications Technology and Electronics.

Solih and Fazna are staying at the presidential palace, Rashtrapati Bhavan, as special guests of Indian President Kovind.
