Yellow Alert issued over area from Sh. Atoll to B. Atoll

Maldives Meteorology Service forecasts torrential rain to affect Maldivian islands from Sh. Atoll to B. Atoll and has issued Yellow Alert for the region.

The Yellow Alert has been issued from noon to 3 pm this Thursday.

Meteorology Service forecasts scattered rain with a few heavy showers throughout the country for the next 24 hours.

Surface winds will be south / south-westerly at 5 – 15 miles per hour in southern atolls and east / southeasterly at 7 – 17 miles per hour elsewhere. Winds may gust 35 miles per hour during showers.

Seas are expected to be slight becoming moderate during showers in southern atolls and moderate elsewhere.

Bad weather is expected to prevail throughout Maldives until Saturday, says Meteorology Service.
