Low-cost Indian airline, IndiGo, has landed its first flight Maldives.
The maiden flight landed at the Velana International Airport at 7:35 am this Thursday to a water salute.
The inaugural ribbon during the celebration was cut by the Indian Ambassador to Maldives, Akhilesh Mishra – who was joined by Vice President of IndiGo, Cindy Crabill Szadokierski and Acting MD of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Moosa Solih.
IndiGo will have operations between Maldives and three Indian cities - Cochin, Bangalore and Mumbai.
The airline says it will have daily flights between Maldives and Cochin, five flights per week between Maldives and Mumbai, and two flights per week between Maldives and Bangalore.
