Ring Road to open on Monday

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has said that the Male' Ring Road connecting to the Sina-Male' Bridge will be opening 3 September, Monday. 

The Ministry has been developing the outer road of Male' City from the Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal on the north-east of the city to the south west harbor. 

Houisng Ministry had previously announced that the road built with four lanes would have trees planted on both sides of the road up to the King Salman Mosque. 

A similar highway was developed connecting to the bridge in Hulhumale' as well. 

The historic Sina-Male' Friendship Bridge representing the friendship between China and the Maldives and the hopes and dreams of the Maldivian people has been officially opened. 

At a special ceremony held last night, the bridge was opened by the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the Chairman of the Chinese Development Corporation, Wang Xiaotao. 

Completed in 3 years and 11 months, the Sina-Male' Bridge connects Hulhumale', Hulhule' and Male' City. It has been the biggest development project in the Maldives so far and it would bring major changes to the Maldivian economy. 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Yameen said that the bridge opening celebrates the dawn of a new era for Maldivians and see a future unfolding into an age of progress and tranquility where dreams become a reality. 

The historic opening ceremony was attends by a mass portion of the public. The opening of the bridge was preceded by a laser show and fireworks.
