Muavviz, Faisal apply for High Court

Vice President of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Muavviz Rasheed and Vice President of Judicial Service Commission (JSC) Mohamed Faisal have applied to the positions of judge at High Court.

Both Muavviz and Faisal have confirmed their application to ‘Sun’.

Judges Act states the High Court needs to have 11 judges. The court currently has the positions of two judges vacant after Chief Judge of High Court Abdulla Didi and Judge Abdul Ghanee Mohamed were appointed judges at Supreme Court.

Faisal, a native of B. Fulhadhoo, was appointed to JSC by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

And Muavviz is at the ACC for a second consecutive term, after being appointed to the commission in 2009. He was appointed Vice President of ACC in 2014.

The monthly salary of a High Court judge is MVR 54,000, excluding the phone allowance given at the discretion of the People’s Majlis.
