Extensive damage to Vommuli Resort’s spa in fire

The St. Regis Vommuli Resort’s spa has suffered extensive damage in a fire this Saturday morning.

Located in Dh. Vommuli, the St. Regis Vommuli Resort is scheduled to hold the World Spa Awards 2018.

The resort’s overwater spa, The St. Regis Iridium Spa was the winner of the Best Spa Design Award at the World Spa Awards 2017, and is running for the award again this year.

Information officer at Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), Captain Ibrahim Azim said the fire was reported to the authority at 9 am this Saturday.

Azim said officers at the MNDF Southern Area – Dh. Kudahuvadhoo Fire and Rescue Service managed to control the fire within one hour.

He said the Iridium Spa suffered extensive damage in the fire.

The World Spa Awards Gala is scheduled to be held at the resort on October 26.
