The training phase of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Dhiraagu’s Film for Change project has begun.

The training phase of the Film for Change project was launched this Thursday morning at Stelco Hall.

Local telecom company, Dhiraagu reports the Film for Change project in 2017 was a huge success, and that the company therefore wanted to work on the project with UNDP this year as well.

UNDP says a large number of young Maldivian men and women are participating in Film for Change 2018.

During the training phase, participants of the project will be educated on preparing short films on various social issues using the minimum of equipment.

UNDP says participants will be taught to highlight various social issues in film making and provided step-by-step training on all stages of film making process; including scriptwriting, film shooting and post-production.

The organization says participants will be provided training on film directing, videography, scriptwriting and film production.

The one-week training will be conducted by industry experts. Participants of the project have been divided into groups and Streak, Ravi, Orkeyz Inc, Rsquare Studio, and Sikudi Corp. have been appointed mentors for the project, says UNDP.

The short films produced by the participants will be officially launched at the Film Festival and released on social media before the end of this year.
