Sheikh Mohamed Didi, the President of Madhanee Ithihad and Adhaalth Party council member has joined the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
Mohamed Didi formed the NGO Madhanee Ithihad during former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration to protest against “un-Islamic” actions by the administration.
After incumbent President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom came to power, Mohamed Didi served as State Minister at Ministry of Islamic Affairs. But resigned when Adhaalath Party withdrew its support for Yameen’s administration.
He was later seen waging criticism against Yameen’s administration.
In a turn of events, Mohamed Didi signed with the ruling PPM in a function last Monday night. He handed over his membership form personally to Yameen in a symbolic gesture during the function.
