Ministry of Islamic Affairs has declared that 16 May 2018 would be the 1 Ramadan 1439.
Following the official ceremony to confirm the beginning of Ramadan tonight, the decree on the decision said that it was decided that tomorrow would be the the first day of Ramadan in thislunar year because trusted astronomical studies suggest that the moon would be visible after sunset today in Maldives and a number of Islamic countries have confirmed the moon to start the holy month.
The decree signed by the Islamic Minister, Dr. Ahmed Ziyad ended by advising the public to increase good deeds in the holy month.
After the declaration, MNDF gave a seven-gun salute.
